Protein Diets

One of the more popular types of diets is the high protein diet. The most well known example is the Atkins diet, but many versions of protein diets exist.

The basic fuel for your body is sugar. Carbohydrates are a more complex form of sugar that your body can convert very easily. Proteins, on the other hand, are quite difficult to convert into sugar and your body has to expend a large amount of energy to do it. The simple result is that you can eat more protein without gaining weight than you can eat carbohydrates or sugars.

The concept really does work, but there are several things to be aware of. First, high protein diets are usually expensive because meat is never cheap. To keep the costs down, try to eat more eggs, chicken, and tuna fish.

The other issue with this diet is that you need to carefully maintain balance. High protein diets work because they are purposefully unbalanced. If you decide to use one of these plans, you simply need to make sure that you are getting enough fruits and vegetables so that you can be supplied with other nutrients. The important thing that will help you avoid weight is not to only eat meat as much as avoiding white flour and other simple carbohydrates that turn into sugar immediately.
